Replace Headlights On A 2004 Mazda 6

Replace a damaged headlight to ensure maximum visibility.

Your 2004 Mazda 6 is equipped with many safety features, one of the most important being the vehicle headlights. The headlights offer the driver and other drivers on the road increased visibility during bad weather conditions or dark driving hours. Sometimes the headlight can become damaged or burn out; it's important to replace the headlight immediately to avoid unsafe driving conditions and possible traffic citations. Replacement headlights can be purchased at local auto parts stores and require minimal tools to install.

Instructions

1. Place the Mazda 6 in Park and turn the vehicle off. Allow the vehicle to sit for a half hour before attempting any maintenance on it.

2. Open the hood of the Mazda 6 and locate the headlight for replacement. Note a small metal band securing the headlight; remove the screws surrounding the metal band using the appropriate-sized screwdriver. Slide the metal band off of the fixture.

3. Remove the headlight unit by gently pulling it out of the socket. Disconnect the electrical wire on the back of the unit.

4. Insert a replacement headlight into the socket and reconnect the electrical wire to the back of the new headlight.

5. Place the metal band around the headlight unit and replace each screw. Tighten the screws with the screwdriver. Close the hood.
