Clean Lined Leather Winter Gloves

Help maintain your lined leather gloves.

Lined leather gloves can help keep the damp, cold winter weather at bay. These gloves can also be quite expensive, and a well-crafted pair may even cost several hundreds of dollars. A winter filled with exposure to the harsh elements can cause a pair of lined leather gloves to become dingy and dirty. It is possible to clean and preserve a pair of leather winter gloves to ensure they can keep your hands warm for several years to come.

Instructions

1. Place 2 to 3 oz. of saddle soap, which you can purchase at many shoe or department stores, onto a soft cloth.

2. Rub the saddle soap into the leather gloves in a circular motion.

3. Soak a soft cloth in cool water. Wring out the cloth to remove the excess moisture.

4. Rub the leather gloves with the damp cloth in a circular motion to remove the saddle soap and any other residue and dirt that may still remain.

5. Place the gloves on a towel a few feet away from the furnace to dry. Make sure that the inside of the glove is open as well to ensure that the center becomes dry if the gloves were dampened with water.

Tips Warnings

Clean the gloves once every few weeks or after they are exposed to salt, which break up ice on roads and sidewalks in winter. The salt can be very damaging to the leather.
