Access The Gps In A Cell Phone

Access the GPS in a cell phone to open your GPS application.

A Global Positioning System (GPS) relies on 24 satellites orbiting in the sky to retrieve information and display it in real time. A GPS system can be installed in an airplane, boat, car or other vehicle and today this technology is even available on cell phones. The benefits of wireless GPS are undeniable. You can rely on the system to keep you from getting lost, retrieve directions to a local restaurant, estimate driving time to any destination or perform other related tasks. To access the GPS in a cell phone, you follow a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Locate the GPS icon on your cell phone.

2. Click on the icon to open the GPS application.

3. Select the desired task and enter in the required information. Wireless GPS applications can vary from one phone to the next. Four basic functions are offered in most systems: Give a Location, Point-to-Point navigation, Route navigation and Keep a Track.

Tips Warnings

Most cell phones today come with GPS enabled. If you cannot find the GPS application on your cell phone, contact your service provider to inquire about this. The provider may instruct you on download a specific GPS application and, if not, programs are available that you can purchase.

To receive a signal, a GPS system must have a clear view of the sky. If you find your GPS system is lagging or not working at all, try changing your location and avoid running it within thickly forested areas or near tall buildings.
