Homemade Duck Boat Hunting Blinds

Do-it-yourself duck boat hunting blinds will come in handy many times during the waterfowl season. Making one yourself will save lots of money, and is also a very easy fix to your camouflage problem. Its portability will also make it easier to use on boats or on dry land. This project should take no more than two hours to complete. Use PVC pipe to build it and buy it already cut to the correct lengths, which will make assembly much easier.

Materials

Purchase camouflage netting from your nearby hunting store. Also, depending on the size of your boat, buy some PVC pipe and connectors, enough to make a roof frame. Using plumber's glue to firmly hold the PVC pipe together will make it very sturdy. The glue is an option, because you may want to take the blind apart for storage during the off-season months.

Assembly of the Frame

Paint the frame you've made with grassland colors such as dark browns, and greens. You can use spray paint, but remember to not get a glossy finish, the shine from the paint may catch the ducks' eyes and deter them from your blind. Put up the roof frame you've made, which should be the length of your boat and tall enough for you to sit straight up in your boat.

Covering the Frame

Take the camouflage netting you've bought and cover the frame. Choose from a few different grassland designs, but a darker pattern works best in different settings and is multi-functional for other seasons. Use zip ties to secure the netting around the base and top of the PVC pipe frame. Cut a square in one side of the frame large enough for you to be able to stand up and shoot out of when you come in contact with the ducks.
