Cut Tulle For Crochet

Tulle fabric comes in a variety of colors and styles for all your crocheting needs.

Crocheting isn't just for yarn and thread. Use tulle to crochet pot scrubbers for your kitchen or facial and body scrubbers for your bath. The tulle will provide you with that extra scrubbing or exfoliating power that you want, but doesn't come in yarn form. In a few steps, you can take that tulle from the bolt or spool to your hook.

Instructions

1. Place a large piece of cardboard onto your table top. Arrange the cut end of the tulle off the bolt or spool so it lines up with one end of the cardboard and pin it in place all along the edge of the cardboard to secure it.

2. Unwrap the tulle from the bolt or spool and flatten it out over the surface of the cardboard. When you reach the end opposite the pins, fold the tulle back onto itself in an accordion style to move it toward the pins again.

3. Place a new row of pins in the folded edge of the tulle, going through both layers of tulle to secure it to the cardboard.

4. Bring the tulle fabric back toward the original set of pins and fold it back onto itself. Remove the pins one at a time and reposition them through the newly folded layers of tulle.

5. Continue to accordion fold the tulle on top of itself on the cardboard, pinning each new folded layer in place as you go.

6. Position a ruler or yard stick on top of the tulle, 3 inches in from one side edge. The ends of the ruler or yard stick should line up with the pinned edges of the tulle.

7. Use a rotary cutter or scissors to cut across the tulle along the side of the ruler. Move the ruler over 3 inches deeper into the tulle fabric and repeat the cutting process. Do this across the tulle until all of the fabric has been cut.

8. Remove the pins from both ends of one section of cut tulle. Wrap the tulle around your hand to wind a ball, then slide it off your hand and continue to wind. Unpin each new strip of tulle and add it to your ball; when you finish, it will be ready to crochet.
