Registered nurses (RNs) are licensed health care professionals who oversee patient care and provide patient education and treatment in a variety of medical settings. Medical College of Georgia
As one of the oldest nursing education programs in Georgia, the Medical College of Georgia provides students with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. 2010 tuition is $3,035 per semester for in-state students. Five semesters of coursework are required for graduation, and graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination--Registered Nursing (NCLEX) for Georgia state licensure.

Augusta State University
Augusta State University (ASU) is a public educational institution in Georgia. While ASU offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, you may apply as a pre-nursing student. Pre-nursing students work with a nursing adviser to achieve their nursing education goals until they are accepted into the nursing program. Upon graduation, ASU students are eligible to sit for the NCLEX, receive a BSN degree and obtain licensure.

Augusta Technical College
Unlike the other two schools listed, Augusta Technical College is the only program in Augusta to offer an Associate of Nursing (ADN) degree. The program is brand new in 2010 and will begin nursing core classes in August 2010. This two-year degree provides students with a well-rounded, comprehensive nursing education and a faster track than the BSN route working as a licensed RN. Students who apply for the fall 2010 cohort of students must have completed 58 credit hours of general education requirements before acceptance into the program.
