Electric Water Heater Reset on a State Select

I am guessing it is a 6 year State Select (model ES650DORS) 50 gallon with two elements/control electric hot water heater and for the past month, it kicks itself off. I will press the reset button on the front, the water heats up and stays hot for about 4-5 days then it kicks itself off and we keep going through this cycle. Any suggestions as to the problem and correct it? I am tired of taking cold showers in the morning after it is too late when I realized it had kicked off again and I had no hot water left in the tank. Hi, That reset usually trips when a t stat is not functioning correctly and water temps reach high levels. I believe around 180F. This is the most common. Have you noticed your water is extreamly hot at times? It can also just be intermitent element failure from say calcium build up. Mike NJ I have had the over temp switch trip on water heaters. Replacing the thermostat has always taken care of it. They have all been in my rental properties so if it trips I replace the thermostat without resetting it. It is too dangerous to have such hot water coming from the taps so when in doubt I replace it.
