Best value in Airless paint sprayer?
I havea 1900sf home that i need to paint entirely on the inside. Fresh coat of base/primer and then rolling 3 bedrooms, livingroom, formal room, kitchen, dining room, stairway and a huge two story garage and a large outside shed that need painting. I'm expecting that i would roll the inside for the most part so i'm looking for a sprayer that can handle a roller as well as do a great job on external surfaces. Is renting such a beast worth it or would i be better off buying and selling on ebay as it could take pretty much a week or two for me busy self to get this done House was built in 1850, remodeled in 1995 and some walls are plaster and others are dryway so i'm assuming the walls will probably be thirsty. its currently a dingy all white, easy to wash off cheap paint and i'm looking for color, eggshell in some rooms and something that can handle inside/outside painting and LOOK GOOD! It is kind of hard to give you an answer. When buying an airless the main considerations are how much gpm, availability of repair parts and of course price. I hardly ever spray interior repaints. Usually the time spent with extra cover up, masking and clean up erases any time saved. IMO the best way to repaint is using a 5 gal bucket, roller screen and quality roller with extension pole. I'm not fond of power rollers. As a general rule, spraying does not shorten any time for most projects The prep is very time consuming, and the potential for disaster is very high, and clean-up is also not easy nor quick Unless the house is un-occupied and will be all one color, I really can't recommend spraying it for a DIY project If you do though, renting is a far better economic choice than purchasing and re-selling The only time I ever sprayed inside was when it was ceiling tile or new construction. Even with new constuction you need to back roll the walls unless it's some cheap blow and go paint job. Be damned carefull spraying outside because you can ruin every car downwind for a mile with overspray. i recently sprayed the exterior of my home and the spray part was quick. not too much over spray. but for interior if a lot of space was painted the same color i could see it working. i bough a wagner for $200 at HD. they do have a roller attachment for like $30 (just guessing). but for $230 i would not buy for interior work. sprayer takes close to one hour to clean (changing paint color entails antire clean od system). if you have questions about my sprayer post'em.
