Vitamix 4500 Vs 5200

The VitaMix blenders are meant to make healthy smoothies with fresh produce.

VitaMix blenders are specifically designed to mix together fruits and vegetables to create smoothies and are sold primarily for home use. Several different models are available, including the 4500 and the 5200, and potential consumers might wish to consider the variables for each model, which include some slight differences in size, weight and available warranty, before making a purchasing decision.

5200 Features

According to the VitaMix website, the 5200 model can blend, chop, knead and grind a variety of foods and substances. The unit has a 2-peak horsepower motor with a thermal protection system and a cooling fan to help protect against overheating during use. In addition, the standard blade is made out of stainless steel, and the lid has a spill-proof plug to allow users to add food while mixing.

4500 Features

The VitaMix 4500 has a 2-plus peak horsepower motor with a 2-speed control, as well as a 64-ounce container that is made out of polycarbonate. The motor is thermally protected and has a metal-to-metal driver for better performance. Moreover, the machine has a stainless steel blade that is enclosed to help prevent against cuts or other injuries.

5200 Dimensions and Warranty

Weighing approximately 11 pounds, the 5200 model is 20 1/2 inches tall by 8 3/4 inches deep and 7 1/4 inches wide, allowing the blender to fit well on most countertops and in smaller spaces, including apartments and dorm rooms. The cord length is 6 inches, however, so the blender must be situated close to the electrical outlet. Should any problems arise with the VitaMix 5200, the unit comes equipped with a 7-year limited warranty.

4500 Dimensions and Warranty

Much like the 5200 model, the VitaMix 4500 measures 20 1/2 by 7 1/4 by 8 3/4 inches. These dimensions are designed to work for most kitchens and countertops, and the 4500 is similar in size to the 5200 model. In addition, the 4500 has an overall weight of 13 pounds, which is slightly more than the 5200 model. Note that if you are ordering the VitaMix 4500 online, the total shipping weight is approximately 15 pounds, which may make the unit somewhat expensive to ship. If problems arise with the appliance, the VitaMix 4500 has a limited 5-year warranty.
