Restore Rom On Samsung Epic 4g

Some cellular carriers do not accept rooted Android phones for warranty repair. Even if you don't plan on returning the phone, installing some custom ROMs is easier if you go back to the stock ROM first. If you have rooted your Samsung Epic 4G or installed a custom ROM, you can return to the stock ROM using a computer and the USB data cable. The unroot software will remove any custom ROM and reload the phone's stock 2.1 Android ROM.

Instructions

1. Open the browser on your computer and type "androiddrivers.net/files/samsung_driver.zip" in the address bar. Select the option to open the file.

2. Double-click the "Samsung_Mobile_USB_Driver_V1.3.800.0" file to install the drivers.

3. Plug the Epic into the computer using the USB data cable that came with the phone.

4. Return to the browser window and go to "http://www.filefactory.com/file/cb00d81/n/Epic4GHacksUnroot.exe." Click the "Slow Download" link and enter the security verification. A timer will begin counting. After 60 seconds, click the "Download" button at the bottom of the page.

5. Select the option to run or install the file. After the install is complete, an "SW Upgrade for SPH" icon will appear on your desktop. Close the browser window and click the icon.

6. Select "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and click "Next." The software will display a warning screen alerting you to back up the data and charge the battery. Click "Next."

7. Disconnect the USB cable and remove the Epic's battery. Click "Next.

8. Slide open the keyboard and hold down the "1" key. Press the "Power" button. The phone will come back up in download mode. Click "Next" on the computer.

9. Reconnect the USB cable and click "Next." It might take a few seconds for the program to detect your phone.

10. Remove the USB cable and repeat steps 7 through 9.

11. Click "Start Software Download" and a progress bar will appear. When the progress bar is complete, the stock ROM is restored.
