Operate A Gsm Sim Editor

If you are in a situation where you have either had a cell phone lost or stolen, obtaining all of the numbers that were in your address book could have caused you frustration. Also, if you purchased a new cell phone, transferring information over to the new phone could have been a challenge. A GSM SIM card editor allows you to view, and back up information on your SIM card, and place the data in a location to reference later. There are many free GSM card editors that can be downloaded.

Instructions

1. Purchase a memory card reader from your local office supply store like Office Depot, or Staples. Memory card readers connect to your computer and it to retrieve the data from various size memory cards. Verify the memory card reader you are purchasing read SIM (subscriber identity module) cards.

2. Connect the memory card reader to your computer and reboot the computer. Most computers offer plug-and-play technology, but rebooting the computer after connecting the new hardware causes the hardware to operate more efficiently.

3. Remove the SIM card from your cell phone. Your SIM card is usually located beneath your battery. Remove the back cover and battery of your phone and you will see a little slot that holds your SIM card. Retrieve your SIM card. Insert the SIM card into your memory card reader.

4. Restart your computer and verify if the computer is recognizing your memory card reader. If you are a Windows user you can click on "my computer" verify if the memory card reader has its own external drive. If you are a Mac user, will see the memory card reader on your desktop.

5. Open your GSM SIM editor software. Each software operates differently, but the components are the same. Click on "Connect" so your software can look for the SIM card through the memory card reader.

6. Click on the option in the file menu that will allow you to import content from your SIM card into your GSM SIM editor software.

7. Once all the contents of your SIM card is published in the software, click on the icon for the information you wish to access. For example, there may be an icon to access the phone numbers stored on your SIM card as well as text messages that were either saved or deleted.

8. Edit the contents on your SIM card. You can copy and paste the information to other locations, erase certain data, or create a backup within the software program by clicking all on the "Disk" icon or looking in the "Options" menu of the software and clicking "Save."
