Disassemble A Coolpix L11

The Nikon Coolpix L11 contains circuit boards.

The Nikon Coolpix L11 was released in 2007. The compact digital camera featured a CCD (Charge Coupled Device) sensor with 6.0 megapixel resolution. The camera was designed for photographers who wanted an easy to use camera in a compact design. Before you take apart any camera you should check to see if any warranty is left on the model. Once you open up the camera, the warranty will be void.

Instructions

1. Turn the camera on and fire the flash. Immediately turn the camera off and remove the battery. Inside the camera is a "Flash Capacitor" that stores energy from the battery to power the flash. It can cause a shock if touched.

2. Prepare a well-lit work area, with small containers to hold screws and other components as you move through the process.

3. Remove the seven screws from the outer case of the camera. Place the screws in a small container or zip-lock bag so they don't get lost.

4. Pry open the case using a small slot-head screwdriver or something similar. The case will come apart relatively easy.

5. Remove the screw that holds the camera strap. Insert a small slot screwdriver just under the electronics assembly on one end of the camera and remove the assembly by prying it out of its position.

6. Remove the six screws from the back of the electronics assembly that holds the LCD (liquid crystal display) screen and place the screws in a zip-lock bag. Carefully remove the LCD screen from the rest of the electronics assembly.

7. Remove the three screws located on the left side of the electronics panel and disconnect the small ribbon cable from its connector. You can now remove the electronics assembly from its plastic casing.

8. Remove the three screws from the metal plate that holds the lens assembly in place. Carefully lift out the lens assembly from its plastic casing.

9. Use a small slot screwdriver to pry off the metal plate. Underneath will be four small screws in a plastic lens assembly. Remove these screws to open the lens.
