Use Mll3 With D80

The Nikon ML-L3 is an infrared, wireless remote control that will trigger the camera's shutter release. The ML-L3 operates at a range of up to approximately 16 feet, providing either immediate or two-second-delay shutter release. Because the ML-L3 is a remote control device, the camera is usually mounted on a tripod or placed on some type of support like a table when it is used. It is an optional device for the Nikon D80 digital SLR (single-lens reflex) camera and must be purchased separately.

Instructions

1. Place the Nikon D80 camera on a tripod or support, such as a table. Turn the camera on using the "Power Switch" located on the top, right-hand side of the camera body.

2. Depress the "Shooting Mode Button" located on the top, right-hand side of the camera body directly in front of the "AF" button. Observe the "Control Panel" LCD on the top, right-hand side of the camera body while depressing the button. Stop depressing the "Shooting Mode Button" when either the remote icon is selected (no delay) or the remote icon with a clock is shown (two-second delay).

3. Select program mode "P" using the mode dial located on the top, left-hand side of the camera body. Using the program mode will allow the Nikon D80 to auto-focus when the ML-L3 shutter release button is pushed.

4. Compose and frame your subject using the camera viewfinder. When the subject is framed and composed to your liking, move away from the camera.

5. Point the Nikon ML-L3 remote toward the front of the Nikon D80 and depress the button on the remote halfway and hold for a second while the camera auto-focuses, then depress the button completely to take the picture. Press the remote button again to take additional pictures.
