Convert Mygig To Xm Radio

XM Radio picks up satellite signals.


MyGIG is an integrated entertainment, communication and navigation system. It comes installed in higher-end Chrysler vehicles. Instead, you might want XM Radio installed in your vehicle. XM Radio does not providenavigation or hands-free communication. You can simply install XM Radio once you purchase a receiver and subscribe to a plan.


Instructions


1. Purchase an XM Radio satellite receiver. You can purchase one at your nearest electronics retailer or automotive store. The receivers come in multiple forms, but come with a car kit and home stand kit.


2. Mount the receiver into the home or car kit stand. Plug the antenna into the "Ant" port. Verify that the antenna is not obstructed by trees, buildings or garages.


3. Plug the AC adapter to the home stand or car charger. Turn on the radio receiver and turn it to "Channel 0." The display shows your receiver's ID, which consist of eight numbers or letters.


4. Contact XM Radio to activate your radio. Provide your receiver's ID number. Choose a subscription plan and pay with a credit card.


5. Leave the receiver on and wait for the channels to load. This might take between 10 and 15 minutes (or it could take up to an hour during peak listening hours).
