Program a RadioShack Pro90 Scanner
The Radio Shack Pro-90 scanner is a 300-channel scanner with five banks. You can choose up to 30 channels in each bank. The scanner can be programmed by Radio Shack via a computer program or you can program the Pro-90 police scanner yourself with a list of frequencies. The radio scanner has 10 priority channels, one in each bank, so that you can program channels that will be checked every two seconds so you don't miss anything important.
Instructions
1. Acquaint yourself with the display screen and the keypad on the Radio Shack Pro-90. You will use the "Manual" button, number keypad, "Scan" and the "E" (enter) button to program frequencies.
2. Look at the list of frequencies. If you do not have a frequency list, Radio Reference Database in the Reference section has frequency lists by state.
3. Press "Manual" to start programming frequencies. Use the keypad to enter the channel number where you want to enter the frequency. Press "Manual." The LCD display will show the channel number. Enter the frequency number with the decimal point using the number keypad. Press "E" to store the frequency. If you made a mistake, the scanner will beep and "Error" appears. Press "E" and enter the frequency again. Repeat this step to enter other frequencies. After you are done entering frequencies, press "Scan" to start scanning.
4. Program the priority channels. Although the priority channels are the first channels in the trunk bank, you can change the channel you want to be priority. Press "Manual" on the scanner. Enter the channel number that has the frequency that you want to set as priority. Press "Manual." Press and hold down the "PRI" button until it beeps twice. Release the button and you will see a "P" displayed in front of the frequency number on the LCD screen. Repeat this step to program a priority channel in each bank.
5. Delay a channel for two seconds after a transmission has ended by pressing "Delay." To disable delay, press "Delay" when the channel is displayed on the LCD screen.
