Connect Subwoofer Leads To A Terminal Cup

One of the final steps in building a subwoofer enclosure is to connect speaker wire between the subwoofer and the terminal cup. These subwoofer leads must be connected securely to the terminal cup for proper signal transfer. Doing this properly is an easy matter with the right materials and tools.

Instructions

1. Strip the insulation on the speaker wires leading from the subwoofer so that about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch of bare wire is visible on each lead.

2. Crimp a female quick slide connector onto each wire lead. Most speaker terminal cups will accept a 0.205-inch female quick slide connector, but try a few different sizes to be sure that you have the correct size.

3. Identify the subwoofer lead that is connected to the subwoofer's positive terminal. Then identify the quick slide on the back of the terminal cup that is connected to the positive (red) terminal on the front. Slide the female quick slide on this lead onto the male quick slide on the back of the terminal cup.

4. Identify the subwoofer lead that is connected to the subwoofer's negative terminal. Then identify the quick slide on the back of the terminal cup that is connected to the negative (black) terminal on the front. Slide the female quick slide on this lead onto the male quick slide on the back of the terminal cup.
