Unlock An Sd Memory Card

Memory cards have a little slider that locks and unlocks them.

SD (secure device) cards are used in electronic equipment like cameras, camcorders, mobile phones and more. They are used in many types of digital cameras. Sometimes a camera, or other equipment, will give an error message saying the card is locked. These cards have a slider on them that will lock the card so no additional information can be added and the information on the card can't be lost.

Instructions

1. Hold the card so the writing on the card is upright and the flattened corner is on the top-right.

2. Find the slider on the top-left of the card and move it to the top.

3. Insert the card into your camera and see if you are still getting a message that it is locked. If not, you are done.

4. If you are still getting the locked message, move the lever up and down several times. Leave it locked for half a minute. Return it to the top. It should work now.

5. Remove your information from the card and reformat it in your camera. This procedure is different on all cameras but is usually found under menu in the options section.
