Reset The Garmin Gps 45

Garmin makes a wide array of navigation systems including the Garmin GPS 45 Personal Navigator. This model is primarily intended as a portable unit for hiking and marine excursions. Like all electronic devices, the Garmin GPS 45 is subject to interference that may cause undesirable operations such as black or red screen errors. You can usually fix most of these problems by performing a simple soft reset. A soft reset involves a special button combination to restart the device. The GPS 45 is also capable of a hard reset by removing the batteries.

Instructions

1. Hold the Garmin GPS firmly at arm level. This will help prevent striking the wrong keys as the keypad is very small.

2. Locate the Light key. It can be identified by the icon of a light bulb on a green background.

3. Press the Light key for approximately three to four seconds. This will initiate the quick power down sequence. When the sequence begins, release the Light key.

4. Wait approximately one minute for the Garmin's random on-board memory (ROM) to fully discharge.

5. Press the green Light key to reactivate the Garmin GPS. Wait for the Garmin welcome screen.
