Taking apart your digital camera
These days more and more people own digital cameras, like the Casio Exilim digital camera. These devices are easy to use and compact but they still need to be maintained in order to prevent damage or breakage. If you've found yourself with a non functional Casio Exilim you may need to disassemble it in order to replace a damaged or broken internal component. This may sound difficult, but the good news is that you can take apart the camera yourself in a limited amount of time.
Instructions
1. Open the battery cover on the bottom of the Casio Exilim and slide the battery out of its compartment. Then use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the six screws on the bottom of the camera, including one screw in the interior of the battery compartment.
2. Locate and remove the 2 screws on the side of the camera that hold the metal side plate in place. Repeat the process on the other side of the camera.
3. Remove the metal side plates and remove the two screws under where the plates used to sit. Then use your fingers to carefully separate the front frame of the camera from the back housing.
4. Remove the back housing from the camera. The green motherboard will now be visible to the right of the camera lens. Remove the single screw located in the middle of the motherboard.
5. Turn the camera over and remove the four screws on each corner of the metal frame around the LCD screen. Then remove the frame.
6. Pull the LCD screen away from the camera and use your fingers to unplug the thick LCD ribbon cable that runs from the back of the screen to the motherboard. The motherboard will be free on the front of the device.
7. Remove the motherboard from the front of the front of the camera. Your Casio Exilim is now disassembled.
