Extend The Life Of Portable Dvd Batteries

So many of our electrical gadgets use batteries and too often we're left with no batteries to replace them with. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to extend the life of your portable DVD batteries.

Instructions

1. Make sure the battery is fully charged prior to use. This may sound obvious, but it works. Fully charging your battery prior to each use will extend the time the battery holds the charge as well as the over all life of the battery itself.

2. Use the headphones when watching DVD's. Since most of us lower the sound significantly when using headphones, this uses less of the battery power, thereby extending the battery life.

3. Remove the batteries when not in use and store them in the DVD player backwards to extend the life of each battery.

4. Store your DVD player in a cool and dry location when not in use. Extreme temperature swings tend to drain battery power.

5. Follow the manufacturer's instructions when caring for the batteries in your DVD player. While there is some evidence that periodically fully draining the batteries prior to recharging may be beneficial, check the manufacturer's website to avoid damaging the batteries.

6. Drain the batteries to approximately half of their life and store in the refrigerator. Some tests indicate this can extend the life of the batteries, although you must allow them to reach room temperature prior to use. Not doing can ruin the batteries, and may damage the DVD player as well.
