Delete All Zune

Microsoft's Zune device boasts a wide range of capabilities, including both music and video playback. Even the best-made Zune can sometimes malfunction, often caused by software glitches. Deleting all of the Zune's contents and restoring the device to its original factory settings can resolve potential problems and help you get back to using your Zune.

Instructions

1. Push the "Hold" switch, located on the top of the Zune device, to the "ON" position, and then return it to the "OFF" position.

2. Push and hold down the Zune's left "Back" button. Simultaneously hold down the top of the Zune's scroll pad. This restarts the device. When it's screen turns back on, release the buttons. Immediately begin Step 3 before the Zune is completely turned on.

3. Press and hold the 30GB Zune's "Back" button while also holding down the central button on the scroll pad and the left edge of the scroll pad. For all other Zune models, push and hold down the left "Back" button while simultaneously holding down the right "Play" button and the center of the Zune scroll pad.

4. Continue holding down the buttons until an alert symbol displays on the screen, reading "Connect Zune to your PC." The Zune is now completely erased and has been restored to its original factory settings.
