Nikon Sb25 Flash Specifications

A correctly used flash can make your subject "pop" from the background.

The Nikon SB-25 is an external flash that can be attached to your camera's hot shoe or can operate independently. A flash unit can add creative or dynamic lighting to a photo to add a professional look. Verify that your camera is compatible with the SB-25 before attaching it; incorrect voltages can damage a camera body.

Core Features

The SB-25 flash has 7 levels of output, each half the output of the level before it. It is powered by 4 AA-sized batteries. The minimum recycling time is 7 seconds, but can take up to 30 seconds, depending on the output. It has 270 degrees of horizontal rotation and 90 degrees of vertical movement, which can be locked in place.

Additional Features

The flash can adjust to seven zoom settings between 20mm and 85mm, and is capable of auto-zooming when used with compatible Nikon models. It has four flash modes (TTL, automatic, manual and repeating flash), an LCD display glow button, a test fire button and built-in diffuser card.

Pricing and Comparison

The SB-25 can be bought used for around $100 (as of September 2010). Because it was manufactured in the early 90s, it is only sold in photo specialty shops, mostly online, and warranty support may not be available. For its price range, it has all the standard features of an external flash.
