Clean A Panasonic Minidv Video Cassette Recorder

MiniDV tapes are incredibly small and portable.

Although most new digital video cameras now record content onto either a DVD or internal hard drive, many older Panasonic models still capture the content onto a miniDV. This small, digital video tape that you insert into the camera can record up to an hour of high quality video. Like other devices that use and play tapes though, the tape deck may gather dust and other debris, causing the Panasonic video camera to not record content properly.

Instructions

1. Power on the Panasonic miniDV video camera and then remove the current miniDV tape from the tape deck. You need a clear view of the deck, so holding the camera directly under a lamp is going to help identify any dust stuck in the camera.

2. Spray a few shots of compressed air into the open deck. This blows out most dust stuck on the interior of the deck.

3. Insert the miniDV cleaning tape into the Panasonic camera's video camera. Set the camera to "VCR" mode, then push "Play" to let the cleaning tape play a few minutes. The cleaning tape has a special liquid stuck to the tape that removes dust and other debris on the inside of the video camera.

4. Push "Stop" after running the tape for a few minutes and then select "Eject." The video tape ejects out of the miniDV Panasonic video camera.
