Hardwire A Power Sirius Radio In A Car

Sirius radios provide a wide array of entertainment choices.

Satellite radio is a very popular form of entertainment. Sirius, a brand of satellite radio, can be installed in just about any vehicle. Sirius offers a wide array of radio channels sure to provide enjoyment to just about anyone in your vehicle. You can have the system as freestanding in the vehicle or hardwire it in place of an existing radio unit connected to your vehicle's stereo.

Instructions

1. Consult your vehicle's manual for precise instructions on remove your existing radio deck. This is usually mounted in the middle of the front dash. You will only need to disconnect the radio from the stereo wires already established in your vehicle. The Sirius radio will operate on an FM station and hook up to the wires already in place.

2. Pull any trim away from the dashboard area after you have removed the existing radio unit. You may need to use a straight head screwdriver to do this. Locate all the wires that were once connected to the radio. Remove the antenna from the stereo backing and plug it into the Sirius radio transformer.

3. Plug the Sirius transformer antenna cord into the back of the stereo. This cord should fit in the input slot. Plug the jack cable running from the transformer into the jack on the Sirius unit. The jack cable will act as a power cord for the radio. Press the trim back into place around the stereo and newly installed Sirius radio. Make sure to press tightly so the trim is secured in place and does not unsnap exposing any wires. You should be able to press the pins on the trim backing into their designated slots.

4. Place the antenna receiver on the outside of the vehicle. The antenna is about the size of a matchbook and should be mounted on top of the vehicle. It will have either an adhesive or magnetic mounting surface. Place it on the car where it will be in a secure spot.

5. If the antenna has a wire connected to it, route the cable into the vehicle's interior by placing it along the rubber stripping around the vehicle's rearmost window. Run the cable underneath the carpeting, along the outermost part of the vehicle's interior. If you have a large amount of cables that run from the back to the front of your vehicle, you can add this cable to that grouping for organization.

6. Turn the Sirius radio on and follow the instructions for setting a radio station. This radio station will be the station you receive the signal from to operate Sirius. If you have yet to purchase a subscription to Sirius, you must do so via their website. The website will guide you through purchasing a subscription.
