The Leupold GX-1 is a range finder used to measure distances on the golf course. The GX-1 is known for its durability and its precision accuracy when determining yardage from course to flagstick, as well as its proprietary Pinhunter laser technology that zeros in on whatever target at which the user points the range finder. Unlike many distance-measuring devices, the GX-1 can also cut through fog in order to focus on the target. The Leupold GX-1 is legal for use in golf tournaments thanks to it only offering line-of-sight measurement, and as such, the device is simple to operate right out of the box.

Instructions

1. Press the "Power" button, located on the top of the device, to turn on the range finder and prepare it for distance measuring.

2. Hold the GX-1 to your eye so that you look through the end with the single lens. Point the range finder at your selected target, and orient the viewfinder's cross hairs on the object. Focus the view of the target by gently twisting the lens' eyepiece to the left or right until the image is clear.

3. Press the "Power" button again to find the yardage distance between you and the object at which the GX-1 is directed. The yardage is displayed in the viewfinder and is accurate to +/- 1 yard. Hold down the "Power" button to scan the distance between you and the object on which you are focused, which simultaneously displays the yardages of particular objects---such as bunkers or water hazards---between you and your target.

4. Press the "Mode" button, located on the bottom left side of the GX-1, for one second to engage the device's Quick Set Menu. Set or activate a particular mode---including fog mode, yardage output display or changing the aiming cross hair's shape---by pressing the "Mode" button until the desired mode is highlighted on the display. Press the "Power" button to turn the option you selected on or off, or exit and save your particular mode by holding down the "Mode" button for one second.

5. Hold the "Power" and "Mode" buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds to reset the Leupold GX-1 to its factory default settings.

6. Power off the GX-1 by allowing it 20 seconds of inactivity, after which the device enters a power save mode.

7. Replace the device's included battery upon a low-battery reading on the display with a 3-volt CR2. The twist-off battery compartment is located on the GX-1's lower right side.
