Recover Photos After Taking Photos

Photo recovery software can help restore deleted or reformated photos.

Accidentally deleting photos after taking them can seem like a disaster, especially if you don't have the right tools for recovering them. Fortunately, there are a few software tools available for recovering photos after taking photos. These programs are installed onto your computer and can retrieve photos before they are overwritten. The process varies between software and it could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to successfully recover your files.

Instructions

1. Stop taking photos with the existing memory card and remove it from the camera immediately. Taking photos after formatting will decrease the chance of recovering photos from the card.

2. Use your web browser to search for and download photo recovery software. This software will allow you to analyze and recover deleted and formatted photos in a way that the file browser on most operating systems cannot. Some of this software is available free of charge.

3. Install the photo recovery software of your choice onto the computer. Insert the memory card into your computer and follow the instructions for recovering the lost photos. After recovering the photos, burn them onto a CD or DVD for safe keeping.
