Instructions
1. Determine the type of cell phone that will receive the ringtone. Each separate cell phone manufacturer has specific instructions and cables for their brand or model.
2. Buy a corresponding data cable for the cell phone. These data cables are available from the manufacturer or from third party retailers often found on the Internet.
3. Locate the software application best suited for the creation and uploading of ringtones. There are hundreds of software programs available to the user, such as Xingtone Ringtone Maker and DJ ToneXpress.
4. Open the software program chosen and use the interface to select the tone or music selection desired. Choose a portion of the song or tone that best suits the ringtone and save this file to a folder on the computer.
5. Connect the data cable to the USB port on the computer and plug the other end into the cell phone's data port. The cell phone's instruction manual will direct the user to this port.
6. Upload the newly created ringtone from the computer to the cell phone. The ringtone selection will be saved to the cell phone's ringtone folder automatically.
7. Find the ringtone selection in the cell phone's ringtone or sound folder and choose the created and uploaded new ringtone for the default phone ring.
