Sim Card Data Recovery

Standard SIM card

SIM recovery sticks were once, only used by law enforcement to retrieve information in regards to crimes, but now you can purchase these recovery programs online for personal use. SIM recovery programs are used to recovery information that has been accidentally deleted from the SIM card.

What is a SIM Card?

A Subscriber Identity Module card (SIM card) is a small white data chip used to activate Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) phones. These phones are used by millions of subscribers worldwide, for both prepaid and monthly service. SIM cards can be purchased (prepaid) from grocery, electronic or phone stores, whether online or in person, but contract SIM cards, must be given by the wireless provider upon credit approval.

Why Do People Recover Information From a SIM?

SIM cards hold valuable information about your phone and your service, but they also backup files from your phone, such as contacts or text messages. If for any reason you need to switch your handsets and your contacts or text messages are saved to your phone only, you will not be able to see them on the new handset. For this reason, you would have to save the information to your SIM card manually. You can do this by selecting the contact or text message and clicking "Options" then clicking "Send to SIM."

SIM Recovery Programs

SIM recovery programs are used to recover files that may have been deleted by accident or by corruption within the SIM card. SIM card recovery programs are embedded within a SIM card reader. This reader is plugged into your PC with the SIM card inside. The program displays all deleted or corrupted files for restoration.

File Recovery Types

The only files that can be recovered are files that you can save to your SIM. Currently, the only files that can be recovered on a SIM card recovery stick are contacts and text messages. Even if you cannot pull these files up on the handset, you will be able to view them on your PC.

Use a Recovery Program?

Remove the SIM card from the back of the phone. Insert the SIM card into the SIM card recovery stick. Insert the SIM recovery stick into the USB port on the PC. Go to the "Start" menu and click "My Computer"." Open the SIM recovery stick from the drives list. The recovery program should open automatically. Follow the onscreen prompts to recover the files.
