Install Directv To Replace Dish Network

If you have Dish Network and want to subscribe to DirecTV, you will have to change a few things before the switch. You will need an account with DirecTV and their equipment minus a few things. Since you already had a satellite network, you can use some of the same supplies and equipment. Read more to see what you need to do to install DirecTV to replace Dish Network so that you can start receiving a signal today.

Instructions

1. Remove the Dish Network satellite dish from the mounting bracket. If you have the same size dish, you may be able to use the same brackets. If not, you will need to remove the brackets and install the new hardware for the DirecTV dish.

2. Use the same coaxial cable that you already have installed in your home. There will be no difference as long as you are not going to have an Internet connection. Attach the same coaxial to the DirecTV dish. If you are installing Internet connections, you must follow the directions supplied by DirecTV to install an additional coaxial cable.

3. Move inside the house and replace the Dish receiver with the DirecTV receiver. Turn on the TV and receiver box. Make sure that you have a strong signal for the new dish by pressing "Action" on the remote and "Guide." Use the arrow key to select "Set Up" on the screen. Select "Installation" to see your signal strength and adjust the dish if the signal is weak.

4. Hook up the phone line to the receiver and contact the DirecTV Company to register and activate your receiver card. The number to call will be located on your card.

5. Select different channels on your remote to make sure that you are getting all of the channels you subscribe to and that the signal is strong on all channels
