View Videos Of Cameras Connected To A Pc At Home

See what's happening at your house from anywhere!

Do-it-yourself home security is certainly reaping the benefits of rapid advancements in wireless Internet and smartphone technologies. For as little as $500, you can assemble a full security-camera system at home and access the video feeds from any device with an internet connection. These types of camera systems are known as "Internet Protocol Cameras" or IP Cameras, for short. These systems use common internet protocols (sets of electronic directions) in order to view and decode video images.

Instructions

1. Install an IP camera system in your home. IP camera systems come in numerous sizes and configurations. Each system is different and each system manufacturer provides detailed instructions on install and configure their equipment.

2. Point a web browser to the static IP address that was provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). This is the address that is assigned to your camera system on your home network. You will enter the IP address into a web browser just like any other web address. An example of an IP address would be 74.125.227.50 (Google.com).

3. Enter the username and password for your IP camera system. After your web browser connects to your IP camera system, it will prompt you for a username and password. These would have been set up on the system during your initial installation and are for security purposes. After logging in, the cameras in and around your home will be available for viewing.
