Clean An Hp 57 Tricolor Print Cartridge

It's easy to clean your printer's HP 57 Tri-Color ink cartridge .

Ink buildup, dust and paper fragments are all enemies of your Hewlett-Packard printer. Each time paper is loaded into the printer, dust fragments are also introduced to the printer. Dust mixes with ink from the HP 57 Tri-Color ink cartridge and builds up on cartridge's contacts. This buildup not only clogs the printhead, but can also cause premature failure of the color ink cartridge. To keep the cartridge and your printer working, clean the print cartridge manually and by using the printer regularly to keep ink flowing throughout the printhead.

Instructions

1. Turn on the HP printer, if it is off. Open the printer's front door. The ink cartridge carriage will move to the center.

2. Push down and pull out the HP 57 Tri-Color ink cartridge.

3. Turn off the printer and place the ink cartridge onto a sheet of paper.

4. Fill a plastic container with ½ cup of lukewarm water.

5. Dip a soft cloth or the tip of a cotton swab into the bowl of water. Squeeze out any excess water.

6. Wipe the ink cartridge's electrical contacts gently with the damp cloth or cotton swab. Continue wiping the contacts until the ink/grime buildup is gone.

7. Turn the cloth or cotton swab to a clean side. Re-dip the cloth or cotton swab into the bowl of water. Squeeze out any excess water.

8. Wipe the electrical contacts inside the HP's print carriage with the damp cloth or cotton swab.

9. Let the ink cartridge and the print carriage dry completely before re-installing the cartridge into the carriage.
