Travel trailers often come with factory-propriety speakers that are not of the greatest quality. Additionally, many do not come with outdoor speakers, which are desirable during camping. Unfortunately, it is difficult to make any changes to a currently installed speaker system within your travel trailer. However, with a new head unit, you can customize your speakers to your liking.
Instructions
1. Remove the power terminal of your trailer unit to prevent electrical shock.
2. Remove the old head unit (if there is one) by removing any trim and screws around the unit.
3. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the head unit.
4. Remove any speakers in the trailer.
5. Install the dash kit into the location of the previous head unit.
6. Mount speakers where the previous speakers were or into your desired location with the mountain mechanisms provided.
7. Run wires from the speakers to the head unit. You may also use the existing wiring if you previously had speakers. They are color-coded.
8. Solder the wires to the back of the speakers.
9. Using the manual of your new head unit, identify the speaker wiring scheme and solder the correct wires into the harness.
10. Use the power harness from the old head unit. A harness adapter may be required. If there was not a previous unit, refer to your owner's manual for a power source and run a line from the source to your head unit.
11. Solder the power wire to the harness.
12. Connect a ground wire from any metal point on your trailer to your harness.
13. Connect the harness to the back of your head unit.
14. Reattach the power supply to your travel trailer.
15. Test your unit to ensure that all speakers are working.
16. Slide the head unit into the dash kit and secure it with screws.
17.Replace any trim that you removed around the head unit.
