Nikon Prostaff Vs Nikon Buckmaster

The Nikon ProStaff and Nikon Buckmasters scopes allow hunters to see game from far distances.

The Nikon ProStaff and Nikon Buckmasters are rifle scopes that allow hunters to focus and shoot game at multiple distances in both ideal and undesirable conditions. They each have a variety of features that enhance a hunter's vision in various degrees of light.

Optics

The Prostaff scope has a lens magnification of 3x to 9x. Nikon claims that the field of view at 100 yards is 11.3 to 3.8 feet. It has a multicoated optical system that can increase light submission up to 90 percent. The Buckmasters scope has a greater lens magnification of 4.5 to 14x. According to Nikon, it has a field of view of 6.8 to19.9 feet at 100 yards, and the light submission can reach up to 9 percent.

Usable Conditions

Both the Nikon ProStaff and Nikon Buckmasters scopes are sealed with an O-ring and filled with nitrogen, which enables it to be "waterproof, fogproof, [and] shockproof," according to Nikon. The company claims that while using the Nikon ProStaff, the hunter can see high resolution images in the "least desirable conditions."

Focus and Adjustments

The Buckmasters and ProStaff both have hand turn 1/4 click MOA (minute of angle) adjustments that allow for a maintained focus amid heavy recoil. The ProStaff has a "patented BDC [bullet drop compensation] reticle," which Nikon claims "allows hunters to hold 'dead-on' at ranges exceeding those previously thought possible." The see-through ballistics circle is convenient for both long- and short-range shooting.

The Buckmasters has side-focus adjustments that allows for parallax-free sighting and a quick-focus eyepiece that enables the hunter to bring the reticle into sharp focus easily.
