Convert 35mm Slides To Digital Images

35mm slides are inconvenient to view

If you have 35mm slides resting in a box, you may want to consider converting these encapsulated memories to digital images. Slides are susceptible to flood, fire and other dangers, while digital files can be backed up in multiple places and are easy to share. The best way to scan slides is to use a scanner. A scanner produces the highest quality results and is user friendly.

Instructions

1. Turn on your scanner and complementary scanning software.

2. Clean the glass on the scanner with a clean, lint-free cloth. Spray it with mild glass cleaner, if desired.

3. Open the lid of the scanner and remove all protective covers, if applicable.

4. Place your slides into the template provided with the scanner, following the icons on the template to properly orient the slides.

5. Cover the unused and empty spaces with a light shield (usually provided) to avoid unwanted light.

6. Place the template on the scanner bed. Align the template on the scanner bed by aligning the arrow on the template with the mark on the bed.

7. Close the scanner lid. Press the "Scan Film" button or similar button on the scanner.

8. Select the maximum resolution possible within the software and choose the location to save the resulting digital files.
