Owning a Realistic Pro 41 scanner allows you to listen to ambulance, fire, police and government frequencies. The 10-channel scanner is programmable with preprogrammed weather channels that are easy to access and an automatic three-second delay for each channel. The Realistic scanner operates on five AA batteries, AC current or DC current from a car battery with an adapter. Weighing 11 ounces, the handheld scanner is easy to carry around.
Instructions
1. Write down the 10 frequencies that you will program into the scanner for your local area.
2. Start programming Channel 1 by pressing "Manual" and "1" on the keypad. Press the "Manual" button again. Use the keypad to enter the frequency number, plus the decimal point, which is the "./Clear" button on the keypad. Press the "Enter" button to lock in the frequency. If you make a mistake when entering the frequency, press "./Clear" two times to start over. Repeat this step for each channel.
3. Press the "Scan" button to start scanning the 10 channels. If you need to hear the weather channel, press "WX" and the scanner automatically goes to the active channel. To continue listening to programmed channels, press "Scan" again.
4. Use the "Lockout" button to block any channel that you don't want to listen to anytime by pressing "Lockout" when the channel is showing on the digital screen or press "Manual" and enter the channel number on the keypad. Press the "Lockout" button. To reactivate the channel, press "Manual," enter the channel number and press "Lockout" to unblock the blocked channel.
5. Lock the keypad out to prevent accidental changes to the programmed channels. Move the "Lock" button slide switch to "In." If you need to program a channel, move the switch to "Out" and all the keys will work. The only features that work when the "Lock" button is switched to "In" are the scan, manual, squelch and volume.
