Sony Cybershot Information

Sony designed its first digital still camera in 1981, but it wasn't until 1996 that the electronics company unveiled the Cyber-shot digital camera. Since its introduction, the Cyber-shot has expanded into several models of varying capabilities.


Models


As of 2010, there are 15 models in the Sony Cyber-shot digital camera line that fit into three categories: ultra-slim point and shoot, compact point and shoot and high zoom. The Cyber-shot cameras take pictures ranging from 10.2 to 14.1 megapixels.


Pricing


As of September 2010, Sony's Cyber-shot digital cameras range in price from $119.99 (S2100 Cyber-shot) to $399.99 (TX9 Cyber-shot, TX7 Cyber-shot and HX1 Cyber-shot). Sony often reduces prices on selected Cyber-shot models, so it is a good idea to check Sony's website for price reductions.


Specifications


The various models of Sony Cyber-shot cameras are equipped with liquid crystal displays ranging from 2.7 inches to 3.5 inches and optical zoom capabilities ranging between 3x (S2100 Cyber-shot) and 20x (HX1 Cyber-shot).
