Troubleshooting A Sony Big Screen Tv

Use your remote control to reprogram your TV.

Sony makes a variety of big-screen TVs. The features on your Sony TV will depend on the model; however, many models have a twin view function, a memory stick slot for watching content and a remote control for easy programming. There are a few simple tips you can follow to troubleshoot your Sony TV should you have problems with any of its functions.

Instructions

No Picture or Sound

1. Ensure that the Sony TV is plugged in. Check your house's fuse box for any blown fuses and replace them. Reset any tripped circuit breakers.

2. Make sure the red LED light on the front panel of the Sony big screen TV is not flashing. Press "Pic Off" if the LED light is flashing to turn the light off.

3. Press the "Power" button on the front of the TV.

4. Press "TV/Video" to review which components are connected, and make sure that the component from which you want to watch content is plugged in and turned on.

5. Try setting your Sony big screen TV to a different channel, as the first channel may be experiencing signal interference.

Twin View Does Not Work

6. Ensure that you are not trying to watch two different channels through a cable box, as the cable box can only process one signal at a time.

7. Ensure that the twin view window is set to a video input setting or channel with a current signal.

8. Any video sources set to cable, video 4, 5 or 6 and any digital sources will only display in the left window of the twin view setting. Use the right window to view any sources not set to these inputs.

9. Change the channel in either window to prevent seeing the same video content in both windows.

Remote Control Won't Work

10. Ensure that the Sony TV is securely plugged in and that no household fuses are blown or circuit breakers are tripped. Replace the fuses and reset the circuit breakers if needed.

11. Move the Sony TV at least four feet away from any fluorescent lighting source to ensure that the remote control will work.

12. Open the battery compartment on the remote control by pressing down and sliding off its cover. Replace the batteries with new ones that are correctly oriented in the battery compartment, according to the cover or compartment diagram. Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it back on the remote control and click it into place.

13. Press "TV/Function" to ensure that the remote can control the TV. The remote control will not change channels when it is set to "Sat/Cable Function."

No Memory Stick Image Display

14. Check that the files you want to view are on the memory stick by viewing them on your computer.

15. Ensure that the memory stick is properly seated in its slot on your TV. Push the memory stick fully into the slot until the slot mechanism accepts it.

16. Prevent a "memory stick type error" display by ensuring that you are using the correct stick for your Sony TV. Check the owner's manual to determine which type of memory stick the TV will display.

17.Use of a memory stick during twin view, freeze or favorite channels functions is not supported by your Sony TV, and no image from the memory stick will display when the TV is set to any of these functions.
