Hook Up A Philips Electronics Audio Receiver

Philips provides a variety of different electronic products, ranging from televisions to DVD players and even audio receivers. If you have a surround-sound system that runs off a Philips receiver you need to connect the device properly, otherwise you may not obtain the audio quality you are looking for. Luckily, when you purchase your Philips electronics audio receiver and speakers all of the necessary cables are typically provided.

Instructions

1. Plug the red and white RCA cables into the "Audio In" ports on the rear of the Philips audio receiver. RCA coaxial cables were named for their developer, the Radio Corporation of America. They commonly have three color-coded plugs, red and white for audio and yellow for video.

2. Connect the other ends of the RCA cables into the "Audio Out" ports on the device you want to connect to your Philips audio receiver. This can vary from your television to DVD player or even a VCR.

3. Set up the speakers in an arrangement you are satisfied with. Typically, on full surround sound systems you have two in the rear, two in the front and one center speaker.

4. Run the connection cables from the back of the speakers to the rear of the Philips audio receiver. The speakers are either going to have red white (or sometimes red and black) RCA cables or wire. Both provided the same audio quality so it does not matter what is provided with your system.

5. Insert the cables (or wires) into the speaker ports on the Philips audio receiver. If the cables are running out of the left rear speaker insert the cables into the audio ports for the "Left Rear" speaker. Perform the same actions for the remainder of the speakers.
