Epic 4g Tricks

The Epic 4G is a phone made by Samsung and released by Sprint. The phone runs on the Android operating system and is packed full of features, such as a 5-megapixel camera and touch-screen, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability and access to over 65,000 third-party applications in the Android Market. This phone also runs on Sprint's 4G speed network where available, making Internet access very fast. Using the Epic 4G is easy.

Text Entry Tips

There are two ways to enter text on the QWERTY keyboard. Swype is the default method. Words are entered by sliding a finger from letter to letter, only lifting between words. To change to regular text entry, where a finger tap gesture is required on each letter to select it, go to your main menu and choose "Settings." Select "Language & Keyboard," then choose "Select Input Method." Tap "Android Keyboard" to select it.

Change Display Screen Wallpaper

Your display screen can have a variety of types of wallpapers. The Epic 4G supports choosing a photo from your gallery, a preloaded image or a preloaded live wallpaper. To choose a wallpaper, go to your home screen and press the "Menu" key. Select "Wallpaper." Choose "Gallery" to choose a wallpaper from your personal photo gallery. Choose "Live Wallpapers" to choose from the preloaded animated wallpapers. Choose "Wallpaper Gallery" to select from the preloaded wallpaper images. Tap on "Set Wallpaper" or "Save" to make your changes.

Battery Conservation Tips

Several features of the Epic 4G phone can drain your battery quickly if they are turned on. Change these features to make the battery last longer in between charges. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G data can all be turned off to save battery power under "Menu," "Settings" and "Wireless & Networks." The brightness of the screen also can make a big difference on battery life. Adjust this under "Menu," "Settings" and "Display." Having a static wallpaper rather than a live wallpaper also will help conserve the battery.

Widget Tricks

Widgets are applications that can be placed on the home screen of Android devices. These are different from shortcuts, because they appear as onscreen applications. To add a widget to your home screen, press the "Home" button and tap and hold your finger on an empty space on the screen. Under the "Add to Home Screen" area, select "Samsung Widgets" or "Android Widgets." Choose a widget to add, such as Analog Clock, Facebook or Music. The widget will be placed on your screen.
