Verizon Wireless Information

Verizon Wireless is the leading provider of cellular telephone service, wireless technologies and accessories in the United States, with over 80 million customers. They offer a wide variety of telephones, PDAs, calling plans and Internet service to fit the needs of individuals, families and businesses across the country.

Cell Phones

Verizon subscribers can choose between standard cell phones from leading manufacturers including Motorola and LG, more elaborate phones with touchscreen and MP3 player capability, and Blackberry/PDAs. The PDAs and some phones feature an optional mobile Internet service as well.

Calling Plans

Verizon has a number of different calling plans to choose from that factor in calling minutes, text and picture messaging, Web browsing and number of lines in use. Plans start at $39.99 for a single line and run as low as $69.99 for two or more phone lines.

Accessories

Verizon subscribers can also purchase and download ring tones, ringback tones, games, GPS information and other extras to customize their phone and stay connected. Media options include V Cast Music with subscription service Rhapsody, and V Cast Videos and Mobile TV shows, starting at an extra $15 a month.

Locations

New and existing customers can find service and manage their account at any of the thousands of Verizon stores across the country, along with kiosks in malls and some large retailers, authorized dealers and online at Verizon's website.

Merger

Verizon purchased MCI in 2006, and in early 2009 completed a similar deal for competing wireless carrier Alltel, bringing Alltel's service and subscribers into Verizon's network, allowing customers of each to call the other without counting against their total minutes.
