One For All Universal Remote Instructions

One for All universal remote controls are programmed at the factory to work with RCA televisions and VCRs, Motorola cable boxes and Toshiba DVD players. However the remote control is designed to work with almost any manufacturer's components by programming the remote control with the brand's specific code. Most codes are listed in the remote control's user guide. However, if the user guide does not list the appropriate codes, the remote control allows you to manually search for the code.

Using Codes

Turn on the device to be programmed and, if programming a VCR or DVD player, insert a tape or disk into the unit. Press the appropriate device button on the remote control once. For example, if programming the VCR, press the "VCR" button on the remote.

Press and hold the "SET" button until the red light at the top of the remote control flashes two times, then release the button.

Enter the device's numerical code using the number keys on the remote control. Point the unit at the device and press the "PWR" button. If the remote control is programmed properly, the device will turn off.

Repeat the process if the device does not turn off. If the device still does not respond, move to the next section.

Programming Without Codes

To program the remote control without the device's specific code, first press the appropriate button on the remote control for the device. For this example we'll use a television.

Press and hold the "SET" button until the red light flashes twice, then release the button.

Enter 991 with the number keys. Point the remote control at the device and slowly alternate pressing the "PWR" and "TV" buttons until the television turns on.

Press and hold the "SET" button until the red light flashes two times, then release the button to lock in the code.
