Hook Up Car Speakers To A Computer

Personal computer speakers sometimes leave a lot to be desired when it comes to sound quality. In a just few steps, you can hook up large stereo speakers or even car stereo speakers to your computer and get better sound.

Instructions

Placement of the Speakers

1. Place your speakers where you want them in a room before connecting the speaker wires. That way, you will know exactly how much speaker wire you need.

2. Measure the distance between the speakers and the speaker connection on your computer and cut the appropriate length of speaker wire from the spool. You may need to splice the wire leading from the back of the speakers to a longer piece of speaker wire to make the necessary connection.

3. Next, cut off the end of the speaker wire that will connect to the speaker jack on your computer. Splice it with the wire and connector of a small stereo headphone jack.

4. Before securing the wire with wire nuts and electrical tape, connect the subwoofer wires into the speaker wire and to the adapter wire.

5. Be sure your computer is turned off. Plug the speakers into the speaker jack on your computer. Reboot the computer. Wait until your operating system and start-up settings have loaded before opening the volume control properties on your computer operating system.

6. Once you have opened the volume control properties, adjust each of the volume settings to the desired level. You also may need to adjust the volume and equalizer settings in each media-player software application you use.
