Use An Equalizer To Make Something Sound High Quality

Each slide control changes a different frequency.

An audio equalizer lets you adjust recorded or live music across a range of sound frequencies to improve and enhance the original signal. A high-quality sound can be considered a subjective listening experience, since the best audio is what sounds good to your ears. However, the basic "smile curve" setting for a graphic band equalizer can be a good starting point for sculpting your audio one frequency at a time for the highest possible quality.

Instructions

1. Slide all the frequency controls on the equalizer to the top position.

2. Push the two middle controls to the bottom of the equalizer range.

3. Slide the controls on the immediate left and right of the two middle controls toward the bottom. Place these controls one setting above the two middle controls.

4. Adjust the remaining slide controls until the equalizer face resembles a curved smile. This setting has long been favored by recording studio professionals as the starting point for equalizing an audio source. In this configuration, the bass (low) and treble (high) frequencies are maximized, with the mid-range balancing the sound.

5. Slide each control, one at a time, to the next higher or lower setting, as desired, until you achieve your preferred sound setting.
