Move your old Hi8 footage over to a video cassette or DVD. At its onset, Hi8 was on the cutting edge of video recording technology. The major drawback of the format was the rapid deterioration of the magnetic coating on the tapes. The format itself became obsolete once the video marketplace moved on to new recording technology. Enthusiasts still have older footage sitting around on dozens of tapes all over their homes. Preserve your old footage by recording it to a more stable format.
Instructions
1. Connect the audio video cables to the outputs on you Hi8 camera.
2. Plug the other end of your audio video cables into the input sockets on your DVD recorder. Make sure a record able DVD is insider your recorder. For a VCR, plug the AV cables into the VCR's input and make sure a blank cassette is inserted.
3. Press record on your recording device. Pressing record on your recording device first ensures that you will get all of the footage from the Hi8 tape.
4. Press play on the Hi8 camera.
5. Stop recording on your recording device when you have recorded the entire Hi8 tape or you have reached the end of the portion of video that you require.
