LCD front projectors work by using a lamp to shine light through an LCD display, lighting up the pixels in the display and creating an image. The image is then projected through a lens and onto a screen. If the lamp burns out, the projector will not function. Because of this, most LCD projectors are manufactured so the lamp can quickly and easily be replaced. Replacing the lamp in the Mitsubishi SL2U LCD projector takes no time at all.
Instructions
1. Disconnect the power cable and any other cables you may have attached to your SL2U. Allow the projector to cool for at least 60 minutes. Lay the projector upside down on a table.
2. Loosen the Phillips screw holding the lamp cover in place and remove the cover. The lamp cover is located in the back of the projector base.
3. Loosen the Phillips screws holding the lamp assembly in place. The screws are captive and can't be removed, only loosened.
4. Flip the handle on the lamp assembly into an upright position. Place one hand on the projector to hold it still. Grab the handle on the lamp assembly with your other hand. Slide the lamp assembly out of the projector. Slide the lamp out slowly to avoid breaking the glass on the bulb.
5. Slide a new lamp assembly into the projector. Avoid touching the glass on the bulb, as the oils in your skin will damage it. Grip the assembly by the handle and base only.
6. Rotate the handle to a horizontal position. Tighten the screws on the lamp assembly and replace the lamp cover. Plug your projector back into a working electrical outlet.
7. Power on the projector. Press the left and right arrow keys and the power key on your remote to reset the lamp timer. The three keys must be pressed simultaneously to reset the timer.
