Fix A Broken Microsd

Secure Digital cards or SD cards, as commonly known, are available in three different varieties. Of these, microSD is the smallest. microSD cards are used in smart phones. As with any other type of SD card, microSD cards incur damage by sudden removal or a power cut during data transfer. Easily fix most of these problems, unless the card incurs physical damage, in which case it will need replacing.

Instructions

1. Download a data recovery program of your choice if you want to attempt to retrieve data from the damaged card before formatting. Choose a data recovery program that provides features for recovering data from flash memory cards and file systems. Install the software and run the data recovery process. Most data-recovery applications provide a wizard-driven interface to make it easier to use.

2. Insert the microSD card into the adapter. All new microSD cards come with an adapter for reading in any SD card reader. Insert the adapter containing the card into the computer's card reader. Open "Computer" after clicking on the Start orb. Locate your SD card in the explorer window, right click on it and choose "Format." Check the box "Quick format" if it is not selected already. Do not change any of the other settings from their defaults. Click "OK" and leave the computer to format the card.

3. Download a specialized SD card formatter and start it up. Find an SD card formatting utility at either the SDcard website or the website of your card's manufacturer. Navigate through the on-screen prompts to format the card. If this method does not work, your microSD card probably incurred physical damage and may need replacing.
