Tv Repairs For A Channel That Won'T Hold

Loss of specific channels is one of the most common issues experienced by customers of cable TV service providers. The causes can be many, including a loose coaxial cable connection, a malfunctioning cable box, a broadcast problem with that particular channel, or a service degradation or outage on your provider's network. In order to resolve the issue, you can always contact your cable provider, but learning fix the problem on your own using the same troubleshooting techniques your provider would use can save you lots of time.

Instructions

1. Check the coaxial cable that attaches your wall cable jack to either your digital cable converter box or your TV and see if it has come loose. Even if the cable itself does not come loose by hand, the threaded coaxial connector's being even slightly loose can cause this exact problem. Screw on the coaxial connector until it does not tighten by hand anymore. Also, check the wall cable jack, as coaxial cable can sometimes become detached from these jacks as well.

2. Reset any cable converter boxes you use in the home by unplugging the power cord for a full 30 seconds and plugging it back in. If you do not use a converter box, simply use the same procedure with the TV's power cord. After allowing all equipment to reboot, check again to see if the channel is now showing.

3. Check the other TVs in your home to determine the scope of the problem. If the same channel is missing from all TVs, the problem is likely a broadcast outage and you will need to report the issue to your cable provider. If the channel is missing from only one TV, the TV itself or any digital cable equipment connected to it is more likely the culprit, in which case you would need to either have a service technician from your cable provider to your home to examine the issue or contact the manufacturer of the TV for further assistance.
