Analog and digital copiers are both useful in offices.
The basic features of digital and analog copiers are the same. However, digital copiers offer many additional benefits over and above the basic functions, including higher-quality copies.
Identification
Both analog and digital copiers work by capturing an image and using a drum and toner to transfer that image to a sheet of paper. A digital copier also scans the original image and stores it as a computer file.
Function
This scanning feature of digital copiers significantly increases the quality of the final image. For example, a digital copier scans and stores the original document in a digital format. A laser reads the file and prints the image on a sheet of paper. Toner is then used to make the image visible on paper. The end result is a higher-quality copy. In addition, because their file are stored in a digital format, digital copiers can send files as emails or faxes.
Considerations
Because of the added benefits, digital copiers are more expensive than analog copiers. For this reason, potential buyers should consider the cost/benefit trade-offs before purchasing.
