Kodak Easyshare Printer Dock Problems

Kodak Easyshare printers are popular because they are inexpensive and designed to print photographs as well as regular color and black and white documents. These printers are available at a variety of retail stores, such as Target, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart as well as online from outlets, such as Amazon and the Kodak website. Despite the popularity of the Easyshare printer line, these printers are known to have some common problems.

USB Port

The Kodak Easyshare printers connect to your computer through a USB cable. In some instances, the Easyshare printers have failed to correctly transfer files from the computer to the printer through the USB connection. This error occurs when the USB port on the printer fails or when the computer fails to establish a connection to the printer. If the USB port on the printer fails, it will have to be replaced. If your printer is still under the manufacturer's warranty, you can send the printer to Kodak for repairs. If the error occurs when the computer fails to establish a connection to the printer, try reinstalling the printer software to correct the problem and restarting your computer before attempting to connect the printer and computer again.

Printer Software

The software that accompanies the Kodak Easyshare printer will sometimes cause error messages to occur when attempting to print a picture or document. The first thing that users should try is ending the program and restarting your computer. If you are still receiving a software error message, remove and reinstall the printer software before attempting to print your document.

Paper Feed

A common problem with the Kodak Easyshare printers is paper misfeeds or the printer pulling through multiple pages of paper at a time. Cancelling pending print jobs and restarting your printer will sometimes fix this problem. If the issue persists, reinstall the printer's software and restart both the printer and computer, canceling any pending print jobs.

Ink Smearing

Particularly when printing pictures or other color documents, the ink used in Easyshare printers is prone to smearing. This situation can be avoided by separating each page as it comes out of the printer. Do not pull the pages from the printer but let them come out on their own. Do not touch the inked area. Lay the page in a cool, dry place and allow it to dry thoroughly before touching the inked area or stacking pages.

Power Supply

The Kodak Easyshare printers connect to a power supply using an A/C adapter. These adapters plug into the printer and then plug into a standard wall outlet. The adapter is sometimes known to fail due to voltage issues as well as failure of the input port on the printer. Before use make sure that the adapter is appropriately plugged into the correct printer port. Check the voltage requirements listed on the A/C adapter prior to use, particularly if your home has older wiring. If the input port on the printer fails, check to see if your printer is still under the manufacturer's warranty and contact Kodak's technical support department for instructions on ensure that your printer is repaired.
