Use A Polycom Soundstation

Polycom SoundStations offer different conference calling options for meetings.

Polycom SoundStation conference phones are useful for conducting meetings with multiple participants and a remote site. There are several models of SoundStations--some use a standard telephone line and others use a network jack for Voice over IP communication. Each type requires a slightly different setup, but the overall process is similar.

Instructions

1. Connect any external microphones to the Polycom SoundStation base unit. The jacks are labeled with an icon resembling the microphones.

2. Connect the power cable to the power jack on the underside of the base unit. Plug the other end into a nearby AC outlet.

3. Connect the phone cable to the jack marked with a phone icon on the bottom of the Polycom SoundStation. Connect the free end of the cable to a nearby phone jack. If using a Polycom IP SoundStation, connect one end of the network cable to the appropriate jack on the bottom of the base station. Connect the other end to a nearby network jack.

4. Press the button marked with the phone icon to hear a dial tone. Dial the telephone number of the remote site using the numeric keypad.

5. Adjust the volume, if necessary, by pressing the buttons labeled with speaker icons. Mute the microphones by pressing the button labeled with an icon of a microphone with a slash mark through it.

6. Press the buttons surrounding the LCD panel to change menu options according to how they are labeled on the LCD panel. You can use this menu to store phone numbers, redial a number or create speed-dial shortcuts. Other adjustable settings include the LCD backlight brightness, display contrast, language and ringer type.
